Inaugural Poem

Fran Levin

Honor, valor, integrity

Value, cherish, uphold

A poem's words, like blessings pouring forth from some great Heart of the Universe

Spoken through the human vessel, touching hidden places of longing,

longing to connect with the greater cosmic heart, something bigger than you and me, something meaningful in a way we cannot even begin to grasp

The poet's words extend and flow and surprise our unknown desires,

bringing them to light, love coming out of a long night

We want, we desire, we hope for strength and courage and right action

blessing our new leader, upholding him, honoring him and his choice to be the narrator of our New Story.

Fran is a writer from Ypsilanti who wrote this poem on the day of President Barack Obama's inauguration.
